Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic and public speech writer. Feminist Frequency is a web site which hosts video and commentary analysing portrayals women in popular media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning Canadian-American feminist media critic and blogger. Feminist Frequency is an educational site for non-profit organizations that analyzes how females are represented in narratives from popular culture. Destroying stereotypes about women are her main focus. But, she also wants to highlight issues such as the harassing and targeted attacks against women online. Sarkeesian, who holds the degree of Master's in Political and Social Thinking at York University, is also a highly sought after public speaker. She has delivered speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. She has been interested in gender issues and feminism since an early age. In 2009, while she was still at university, Sarkeesian launched the site Feminist Frequency. The site was about to launch a series of web videos examining the game's gender-based representations and was the target of online harassment. The attack did not stop her, but instead strengthened the determination of feminist media critic. Her notable contributions to the field of feminist are recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian is an award nominated media critic as well as the director of Feminist Frequency an educational nonprofit focused on the representations of women in popular culture and the narratives that surround them.
